Service Description

If you are keen on swimming and would like to learn about the sea then this is the weekend for you! A residential, fully catered sea swimming 'retreat' weekend at Tiptoe Lodge in the New Forest, where you'll meet like-minded swimmers learning about all aspects of safe sea swimming, including: * assessing different sea swim locations, including beaches and estuaries; * understanding marine weather; * navigating the waves safely; * understanding tidal information; * water temperatures, * rip currents; * technique tips for sea swimmers *deep water swimming; * marine life: the joys and hazards. Led by Channel swimmer and surf lifeguard, Angus McChesney, who will be guiding you safely along and providing useful sea swimming technical tips for those interested in developing their stroke style. There will be at least four swims spread across the weekend in a variety of different locations, including a hike-and-swim at Hurst Castle. As well as a local sea swimmer, Angus is also a Geography teacher and offshore yachtsman with an extensive knowledge of our coastal waters. If you would rather pay the price in instalments, please contact us at About Tiptoe Lodge: usually our family home located in the stunning New Forest National Park, we specialise in looking after small groups (up to 10 people) taking part in wholesome weekend activities, such as yoga, art and sewing (as well as swimming!) Most guests share in twin or double rooms but single occupancy is available by request and with a supplement payable. Delicious healthy and nutritious meals and snacks are eaten communally around our kitchen table. About our swims: Tiptoe Lodge is located ten minutes drive from most of our different swim locations. Some of the beaches are exposed to the south west but several others are protected from prevailing winds in the relatively calmer waters of the Solent and its estuaries. Getting here and around: At the beginning and end of the weekend we can collect and drop off swimmers at Brockenhurst or Sway stations, served by direct trains from London and the Midlands.
